Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our treatments, processes, and what to expect when you join Vital Society.

What happens during the initial consultation? Is it conducted in-person, via telehealth, or is there an option for both?

Initial consultations are typically conducted in person, allowing patients the opportunity to become familiar with our clinic and care approach. During this visit, the provider reviews symptoms, medical history, goals, and next steps, and determines whether blood work is appropriate.

For those not yet ready to schedule an in-person consultation, a phone consultation with our New Patient Success Manager is available. This is a casual, informational conversation designed to answer questions, explain our services, and help patients feel confident moving forward with scheduling their in-person consultation. Telehealth appointments may also be available for out-of-town patients.

Who performs the consultations and subsequent appointments?
Consultations are conducted by our provider team and clinical leadership. All ongoing medical care is delivered by our experienced medical providers under the supervision of the Medical Director.

What are the qualifications, specializations, and years of experience of your medical providers?

Our in-clinic provider team is comprised of licensed Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who are credentialed through the Texas Medical Board. All patient care is overseen by our Medical Director to ensure appropriate clinical oversight and continuity of care. Collectively, our providers bring several decades of clinical experience to patient care.

Do I need a referral to get started?

No referral is needed. You can schedule a consultation directly with us. We’ll conduct comprehensive lab work and assessments to determine if you’re a good candidate for treatment.

Is telemedicine available?

Texas residents can receive expert care, prescriptions, and ongoing support through secure telemedicine visits from the comfort of home.

What does the initial consultation include?
Your first visit with Vital Society is a complimentary consultation. During this appointment, one of our providers will review your symptoms, medical history, and health goals, explain our services in detail, and answer any questions you may have. If you decide to move forward, your blood draw can be completed during the same visit. Lab results typically return within 24 hours, followed by a scheduled follow-up appointment to review those results and create your personalized treatment plan.
What is the cost of initial labs and provider assessment?
Your consultation is completely free. If you choose to move forward, the cost for your comprehensive initial lab panel, follow-up assessment, and personalized treatment planning is $225 total.
How are your labs different from other clinics?
Our lab panels are comprehensive and go far beyond basic hormone testing. We evaluate markers related to inflammation, metabolic health, organ function, hormone interactions, and overall risk factors, allowing for more advanced and personalized treatment planning.
Do I have to have an appointment?
We try our best to accommodate walk-ins, but we do encourage you to schedule an appointment to ensure our team is available to meet with you.
Do you take insurance?
We operate on a self-pay model to allow for individualized care, optimal dosing, flexible injection frequency, and uninterrupted treatment. Insurance-based care often relies on strict coverage criteria and fixed lab thresholds, which can limit personalization or result in reduced or discontinued therapy once levels improve, leading to inconsistent results.
Is there a minimum age requirement for treatment?
You must be 18 or older to receive treatment from a Vital Society clinic.
Is there a cost at every visit?
There is no additional cost per visit. Once treatment is initiated, all provider appointments are included.
Can out-of-state patients receive treatment?

In some cases, yes. Treatment eligibility for out-of-state patients depends on the type of therapy, medication prescribed, and applicable state and federal regulations. Certain treatments may require in-person visits. Our providers follow all state and federal prescribing laws to ensure safe and appropriate care.

Hormone Therapy
What is hormone optimization therapy?

Hormone optimization therapy involves restoring your body’s hormone levels to optimal ranges using bioidentical hormones. This can help improve energy, mood, body composition, and overall quality of life.

What is TRT (Testosterone replacement Therapy)?

TRT is a medical treatment that restores testosterone levels in men with clinically low testosterone. It can improve energy, muscle mass, mood, libido, and overall vitality.

Am I a Candidate For Hormone Optimization Therapy?

If you’re experiencing symptoms such as low energy, mood changes, reduced libido, lack of motivation, or you just don’t feel like yourself anymore, hormone optimization may be worth exploring. Candidacy is determined by lab testing, medical history, and provider evaluation.

What are biodentical hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are molecularly identical to the hormones your body produces naturally. They’re derived from plant sources and are designed to work more harmoniously with your body than synthetic alternatives.

Are there side effects?

When therapy is appropriately prescribed, monitored, and dosed, it is generally well tolerated. Our providers closely track your progress and adjust treatment as needed to support both safety and effectiveness.

Is a specific testosterone level required to begin treatment?
No. Testosterone optimization is individualized and not based on a single lab number. Treatment decisions are made using your symptoms, goals, lab values, and overall well-being.
If my testosterone is low, can I just take a supplement instead?
While some supplements can support hormone health, they don’t replace what’s not being made. If there’s true hypogonadism or central suppression, no over-the-counter product is going to meaningfully correct it.
What are the early signs of hormonal imbalance?
Initial signs may include low energy, poor sleep, mood changes, feelings of depression, brain fog, reduced interest in intimacy, and gradual changes in body composition. Women may additionally experience hot flashes or cycle changes, while men may notice motivation and performance changes.
My lab values are in the “normal” range. Does that mean my testosterone is fine?
Just because your levels are “in range” doesn’t mean they’re right for you. Lab reference ranges are based on population averages, including people who are tired, overweight, inflamed, and unwell. These conventional reference ranges aren’t designed to define wellness; they’re meant to rule out disease. You can be “normal” on paper and still feel completely off. We look beyond this and focus on what’s optimal for your body, your symptoms, and your quality of life. You can have all the symptoms of low testosterone and still be told you’re “normal”, but normal doesn’t mean optimal, and it definitely doesn’t mean you’re thriving.
Do I need to be on testosterone forever?
It’s important to understand that hormone optimization is a long-term commitment to yourself and your health. Once hormone levels are optimized, they generally remain optimized only while treatment is continued. However, if you decide to stop therapy at any point, natural testosterone production can often be supported or preserved through appropriate supportive therapies and a structured transition protocol.
Are your hormones bioidentical?
Yes. All hormones prescribed at Vital Society are bioidentical, meaning they match the molecular structure of hormones naturally produced by the body. This allows for better tolerance, more precise dosing, and more natural metabolism. Testosterone Cypionate is an esterified form of testosterone that releases bioidentical testosterone once the ester is cleaved in the body.
Do you offer pellets?
No. Injectable testosterone is our preferred method of administration because it allows for precise dose adjustments, more stable hormone levels, and avoids the unpredictability of pellets, which cannot be adjusted once placed and may lead to hormone crashes as they wear off. Topical cream and oral options may be considered for individuals who are unable to use injectable therapy; however, injections remain our preferred and recommended approach.
How often do I need labs?
For the first six months of treatment, labs and follow-up visits are completed every two months. After optimization, monitoring shifts to a three-month schedule. This schedule allows for precise, data-driven treatment adjustments.
Do I have to come to the clinic for my testosterone injections?
No. Medications are delivered directly to your home. Patients are educated to confidently self-administer injections, allowing for personalized dosing and appropriate injection frequency to support stable hormone levels.
How soon will I feel results from hormone therapy?
Early improvements, such as better sleep and increased energy, are often noticed within 4-8 weeks, while full optimization and symptom resolution typically occurs over 3-6 months.
Is testosterone safe long term?
Research shows that when testosterone therapy is properly prescribed and closely monitored, it may improve lipid profiles, reduce inflammation, and support vascular health. The key is thoughtful dosing, individualized care, and regular lab monitoring to ensure safety and long-term benefits. Discussing your medical history and any potential risks with your provider helps ensure this treatment is appropriate for you.
Male Testosterone Optimization
What is the purpose of luteinizing hormone (LH) support medications?
LH support medications are used to help maintain your body’s natural testosterone production and testicular function while on testosterone therapy. Depending on your goals—such as preserving fertility, maintaining testicular size, or supporting internal hormone signaling—your provider may prescribe Enclomiphene, Gonadorelin, or hCG. The specific medication and dosing are personalized based on labs, symptoms, and long-term treatment goals.
Will testosterone affect my fertility?
Testosterone therapy can reduce sperm production when used alone. For men who wish to preserve fertility, we may incorporate supportive medications or alternative protocols designed to maintain natural sperm production while optimizing hormone levels. Fertility goals are discussed before treatment begins.
How often are testosterone injections administered?
Most male patients inject testosterone two to three times per week to maintain stable hormone levels. More frequent, lower-dose injections help avoid peaks and crashes, improving symptom control and overall well-being. Injection frequency is customized based on labs, response, and lifestyle.
Will testosterone cause estrogen-related side effects?
Estrogen balance is carefully monitored throughout treatment. Proper dosing and injection frequency significantly reduce the risk of estrogen-related side effects such as water retention or mood changes. If adjustments are needed, they are made proactively based on lab results and symptoms.
Is it safe?
When properly prescribed and closely monitored, testosterone therapy is considered safe for many individuals. Earlier concerns about cardiovascular risk were based on outdated studies with significant limitations. More recent research shows that when testosterone therapy is appropriately managed, it may improve lipid profiles, reduce inflammation, and support vascular health. The key is thoughtful dosing, individualized care, and regular lab monitoring to support safety and long-term benefit.
Female Hormone Optimization
Is hormone optimization only for menopausal women?
No. Women in perimenopause or experiencing hormone imbalances at any stage of adulthood may benefit from hormone optimization. Treatment is based on symptoms, lab values, and overall health—not age alone.
Do women need testosterone?
Women naturally produce testosterone, and in fact, most women make more testosterone than estrogen throughout their lives. Optimizing testosterone in women can significantly improve libido, energy, mood stability, cognitive clarity, lean muscle mass, bone density, and fat metabolism. It also supports motivation, stress resilience, and confidence. Despite its importance, it’s one of the most under-tested and under-treated hormones in conventional women’s healthcare.
Will hormone optimization cause weight gain?
When properly dosed and monitored, hormone therapy often improves metabolism and body composition. Many women experience improved energy, better fat distribution, and easier weight management once hormones are balanced.
How is hormone optimization administered for women?
Depending on the hormone being treated, therapy may be delivered through injections, capsules or tablets, or topical creams. All treatment plans are customized based on labs, symptoms, and patient preference. Pellet therapy is not offered.
Hormone Membership Structure
How do your hormone memberships work?
Our hormone programs are structured as a flexible membership model with no long-term contracts required. Every hormone membership includes all prescribed medications, supplies, provider appointments, and ongoing communication with our medical team. While hormone optimization is a long-term process and patients are encouraged to begin treatment when they feel ready, memberships may be stopped at any time with a 30-day notice.
What are the membership options, and how are they billed?
Yes. Patients may choose a 6-month or 12-month commitment plan for added value. Both options include everything in the standard membership, along with standard recurring labs fully covered. These plans are paid in full upfront and are non-refundable. The 12-month plan also includes the 12th month at no cost.
How do billing and medication shipments work?
Vital Society operates as a concierge practice. Your monthly membership covers provider access, labs when included, appointments, communication, prescriptions, and supplies. Medications are shipped in bulk based on dosing needs rather than monthly shipments. A monthly membership fee provides full access to care, similar to a gym membership, regardless of how frequently services are used within a given month.
Are labs included?

Standard recurring labs are fully covered for patients enrolled in a 6 or 12-month commitment plan. For those on month-to-month memberships, routine follow-up labs are available for $55. If additional testing is recommended, any associated costs will always be discussed with you in advance of your blood draw.

Weight Loss
What is medical weight loss?
Medical weight loss is a provider-guided approach that uses prescription medications, such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, to help regulate appetite and support metabolic health. These medications promote fullness and reduce hunger, making it easier to maintain sustainable, long-term weight loss when paired with healthy habits.
What is the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist that helps reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying. Tirzepatide works on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which often leads to stronger appetite suppression, improved insulin sensitivity, and greater overall weight loss. Your provider will help determine which option is the best fit based on your goals, medical history, and response to treatment.
How long do I need to be on weight loss medication?
We recommend a minimum of three months to allow your body time to adjust to treatment. The total length of therapy depends on your starting point, goal weight, lifestyle habits, and exercise routine. Progress is reviewed monthly and dosing is adjusted as needed.
How does titrated dosing work?
Treatment begins at the lowest dose and increases gradually, only if needed. The goal is to achieve appetite suppression and weight loss without unnecessary side effects. The appropriate dose is determined by individual response.
How does your medical weight loss pricing compare to other clinics?
Our pricing is tiered by dosage, making treatment more cost-effective over time. Because GLP-1 medications are titrated, patients advance only when needed, avoiding unnecessary increases in cost. Pricing also includes all provider appointments and ongoing medical oversight, which are often charged separately elsewhere. This all-inclusive approach makes our medical weight loss services not only transparent, but extremely competitive in overall cost.
How quickly will I lose weight?

Results vary by individual. Many patients begin to notice changes in appetite and satiety within the first week, with visible weight loss typically starting within the first month. The speed of weight loss depends on individual goals, nutrition, lifestyle habits, and consistency with medication.

Peptides
What are peptides and how do they work?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules in the body. They help regulate processes such as healing, metabolism, hormone release, recovery, inflammation, and cellular function by signaling the body to repair or optimize specific pathways.
What can peptide therapy help with?
Peptides may support fat loss, muscle growth, recovery, sleep quality, cognitive performance, joint health, inflammation reduction, and healthy aging. Specific peptides are selected based on individual goals and clinical needs.
Are peptides safe?
When prescribed and monitored by medical professionals, peptides are generally well tolerated. At Vital Society, peptide therapy is guided by lab work, symptom tracking, and ongoing provider oversight to ensure safety and effectiveness.
How are peptides administered?
Most peptides are administered through small subcutaneous injections, similar to insulin injections. Some peptides may be delivered via nasal spray depending on the compound and treatment plan.
How quickly do peptides work?
Response time varies by peptide. Some may produce noticeable effects (like improved energy or mental clarity) shortly after administration, while others require consistent use over weeks to months. Results depend on the specific peptide, dosing, and individual response.

Can peptides be combined with hormone therapy or weight loss programs?
Yes. Peptides are often used alongside hormone optimization or medical weight loss programs to enhance results and support overall recovery, metabolism, and performance.
Where do your peptides come from?

All peptides prescribed at Vital Society are sourced from licensed pharmacies that meet strict regulatory and quality standards. These pharmacies perform third-party testing to verify potency, purity, sterility, and consistency. Proper sourcing is critical for both effectiveness and patient safety.

Why does peptide sourcing matter?
Peptides are sensitive compounds, and quality can vary significantly depending on how they are manufactured and stored. Medical-grade sourcing ensures accurate dosing, reliable potency, and sterile preparation. This reduces the risk of contamination, under-dosing, or inconsistent results. Proper sourcing is a key part of safe and effective peptide therapy.
Are peptides sold online or in supplement stores the same as prescription peptides?

No. Peptides sold through online marketplaces, “research-only” websites, or supplement stores are not regulated. These products are not sourced from licensed pharmacies and may be mislabeled, under-dosed, contaminated, or improperly stored. As a result, there is often no reliable way to verify their contents, safety, or effectiveness.

Is it risky to use peptides from non-medical sources?

Yes. Using peptides from unlicensed or grey-market sources can be dangerous. These products are often manufactured without quality controls, sterility standards, or accurate dosing. Without medical supervision or verified sourcing, patients risk infection, ineffective treatment, or harmful side effects.

Why are peptides prescribed and monitored by a provider at Vital Society?
At Vital Society, peptide therapy is medically supervised to ensure safety and effectiveness. Treatment plans are individualized based on labs, medical history, and specific goals. Ongoing monitoring allows us to adjust dosing as needed and reduce potential risks—something non-medical sources cannot provide.
Can I switch to Vital Society if I’ve used peptides from another source?
Yes. Many patients come to us after using peptides obtained online or through non-medical channels. We recommend discontinuing outside products and completing any appropriate blood work so therapy can be restarted safely using pharmacy-sourced peptides under medical supervision.
IV Infusions
What are IV infusions?
IV infusions deliver vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream. This allows for rapid absorption and higher bioavailability compared to oral supplements.
What are IV infusions used for?
IV therapy is commonly used for hydration, immune support, recovery, energy enhancement, athletic performance, stress support, and overall wellness.
How long does an IV infusion take?
Most infusions take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the formulation and individual needs.
Can anyone get IV therapy?
IV therapy is appropriate for many healthy adults; however, certain medical conditions may require additional evaluation or make treatment unsuitable. These may include specific kidney or heart conditions, blood disorders, or medication interactions. Prior to treatment, our medical team reviews your health history to ensure IV therapy is safe and appropriate for you.
How often can I receive IV therapy?
Frequency depends on your goals and the type of infusion selected. Some patients benefit from weekly sessions, while others come monthly or as needed.
Is IV therapy safe?
Yes. IV infusions are safe when administered by trained medical professionals using sterile techniques and high-quality ingredients. Each infusion is reviewed for safety prior to administration.
Will I feel the effects immediately?
Many patients notice benefits the same day, particularly improved hydration, energy, and mental clarity. Results may continue to build with regular therapy.
Vitamin Enhancement
What are vitamin enhancement shots?

Vitamin shots deliver targeted nutrients via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, allowing for faster and more efficient absorption than oral supplements.

What vitamin shots do you offer?
Common options include B-12, L-Carnitine, CoQ10, Lipo-Mino blends, and immune-support injections. Recommendations are based on individual goals and lab results.
How often can I receive vitamin shots?
Most vitamin injections can be administered weekly or bi-weekly, depending on the nutrient and desired outcome.
Are vitamin shots better than oral supplements?
Injections bypass the digestive system, making them ideal for patients with absorption issues or higher nutrient demands. This allows for quicker and more noticeable benefits.
Can vitamin shots be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Vitamin injections pair well with hormone optimization, medical weight loss programs, IV infusions, and peptide therapy.
Erectile Dysfunction
How do I know if I need testosterone vs. ED treatment?
Your provider will discuss all of your symptoms with you and review your blood work to determine which treatment is most suitable for you.
What causes ED?
ED can result from a combination of factors, including hormonal imbalances, certain medications, physical health conditions, psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma, and lifestyle factors.
What ED treatment options does Vital Society offer?
We offer Tadalafil and Sildenafil for ED treatment. If ED is caused by low testosterone, testosterone optimization may also be an option.
How often do I need to have blood work if I am only receiving ED treatment?
Blood work is required every 6 months for ED treatment.
